Lead pipeline

A lead pipeline (or sales pipeline) is the sequence of stages a potential customer passes through — enquiry, qualified, quoted, negotiating, won or lost — and the running view of every open opportunity at its current stage, so a sales team always knows what to do next and management knows what is coming.

What it is

The pipeline is a model of how your sales actually happen. Each stage has an entry condition (a quote has been sent, a sample approved, a site visit done), an owner and usually a next action with a date. An opportunity is a specific potential deal — this customer, this product or service, this expected value — that sits at one stage at a time and moves forward, or is closed as lost with a reason.

Seen across all opportunities, the pipeline becomes a forecast and a diagnosis at once: how much is at each stage, how long deals stay there, where they stall, and which sources of leads actually turn into customers. A CRM is the tool that holds the pipeline; without a CRM, the pipeline is a spreadsheet that is honest only on the day it was last edited.

Why it matters for a growing business

While one owner handles every enquiry, the pipeline lives in their head. Add a second salesperson, a Facebook page generating enquiries or a distributor network, and things fall through: quotes unfollowed, the same customer contacted twice with different prices, a hot lead waiting because its owner is travelling. A written pipeline with owners and next actions closes those gaps.

It also turns sales from a set of anecdotes into something that can be managed: a weekly review of stuck opportunities, a realistic view of next quarter, and clear evidence about which channels — WhatsApp enquiries, referrals, trade fairs, website — deserve more effort.

How AutoProbaho uses it

AutoProbaho builds custom CRMs around each client's real pipeline — the stages, fields and rules of their trade rather than a generic template — with automations that create leads from WhatsApp, Facebook, email and web forms, schedule follow-ups, generate quotes and show pipeline dashboards to management, integrated with the ERP and accounting so a won deal becomes an order without re-typing.

Frequently asked questions

A funnel shows volumes narrowing from many contacts to few customers — a marketing view. A pipeline shows each individual opportunity at its stage with an owner and next action — a sales-management view. Most companies need both; the pipeline is the one the sales team works in every day.
