Dashboard

A dashboard is one screen that puts a business's most important figures — today's sales, stock levels, overdue receivables, open orders — in front of the people who steer by them, updated automatically from the systems where the data is recorded.

What it is

The name comes from a vehicle's instrument panel: a few dials that tell you what you need to know without reading the engine manual. A business dashboard does the same for an operation. It pulls figures from the ERP, CRM, accounting tool or database, calculates the agreed KPIs and shows them as numbers, trends and tables — usually with the ability to click through to the underlying records.

A dashboard differs from a report in timing and use. A report is a document produced at a fixed point — the month-end sales summary — and read once. A dashboard is live or refreshed on a schedule and looked at repeatedly, so it answers 'where do we stand right now' rather than 'what happened last month'. Most companies need both.

Why it matters for a growing business

In many growing companies the management view is assembled by hand: someone collects figures from three departments into an Excel sheet, and by the time it reaches the owner it is a week old and nobody is sure which version is current. A dashboard replaces that assembly with a pipeline, so the same figure appears the same way for everyone, every morning.

The practical effect is that meetings start from shared numbers rather than competing spreadsheets, problems surface while there is still time to act, and managers spend their effort on the decision instead of on gathering the inputs. That only works if the dashboard is built on well-defined KPIs and clean source data — a pretty screen on top of inconsistent records simply displays the inconsistency faster.

How AutoProbaho uses it

AutoProbaho builds automated reporting dashboards on top of clients' ERP, CRM, accounting and e-commerce data, connecting the sources through APIs and n8n so figures refresh without anyone exporting or re-typing. Dashboards are role-based — an owner, a production manager and a sales lead see different views — work on a phone as well as a desktop, and can push a daily summary to WhatsApp or email for people who will not open a browser.

Frequently asked questions

Not necessarily. For a company with a custom ERP or CRM, a dashboard can be built directly into that system on the same database. A separate BI tool becomes worthwhile when data has to be combined from several sources or when analysts need to explore it freely. We recommend whichever is simpler to maintain for your team.
